In February of 2022 I decided to tweet: "I need new music fr". Little did I know, upcoming artist and individuals I had never heard of before were going to provide me with just that. New music. Maybe I should've specified that I needed music that I wanted to hear, not music they wanted me to hear.
The running joke was I was not their target audience and I let that be known. I needed music that I thought was good. Music I could listen to...hear...feel. I did not click a single link. It was interesting to see how one tweet got 12 retweets, 6 quotes, and 145 likes for days until I muted the tweet a few days later. It may not sound like much, but for someone who usually has the same three engagements here and there, I was ready to sign out of my Twitter. A bit dramatic, sure, but it's true.

Yes, one of the quoted tweets was my own. "No, cause now that I'm going through some of these -crying emoji- baby, I am not your target audience". This was the following day at 11:21 AM on 2/10/22.
Looking back, I appreciate the engagement because if I were a new artist trying to get my name out there, I would've taken the opportunity as well. Not only would the original tweeter see my reply, but there is no telling how many other users "need new music" and would engage in the future. Honestly, I would be selling myself short if I didn't take the opportunity to shamelessly plug myself. While again, the notifications were a bit much, I applaud ever one who essentially gave me what I asked for. It is on me for not specifying.
